BestCrypt permette la creazione e la gestione di drive virtuali crittografati. I drive compaiono nel sistema come dischi locali aggiuntivi. Qualsiasi software o utility del sistema operativo funzionerà su di essi nella stessa maniera. La dimensione del drive virtuale può variare da diversi Megabyte a centinaia di Gigabyte e si può creare qualsivoglia numero di drive virtuali crittografati. l'immagine crittografata su disco del drive virtuale (detta contenitore) può essere copiata su altri computer. I dati crittografati nel contenitore sono accessibili da ogni computer su cui sia installato BestCrypt.

BestCrypt software keeps your confidential data in a strongly encrypted form on your disk and provides you with transparent access to the data from any application. Storing encrypted data in container files and accessing the data through virtual drives. The virtual drives are visible as regular drives with corresponding drive letters (for example, D:, K:, Z:, i.e. with any drive letter that is not used by another system device) or as subfolders on NTFS partitions.
