Alcune caratteristiche: altissimo rapporto di compressione nel nuovo formato 7z con la compressione LZMA , 7-Zip è software free distribuito sotto GNU LGPL, formati supportati: 7z, ZIP, Z, CAB, RAR, ARJ, GZIP, BZIP2, TAR, CPIO, RPM e DEB, per i formati ZIP e GZIP 7-Zip fornisce un rapporto di compressione migliore del 2-10% rispetto a quello di PKZip e WinZip, Capacità di auto estrazione per il formato 7z. Al termine dell'installazione è possibile selezionare la lingua italiana dalla barra dei menù, strumenti-opzioni.
